What is it and what for?

Retort bags are a new era in the canning industry. It is handy, dense and airtight package that replaces glass and metal containers for sterilization in autoclaves.

ADVANTAGES OF READY-TO-EAT FOOD IN RETORT BAGS

  • Long shelf life without special conditions. Food in the retort bag is suitable for consumption within 24 months even  in the field at  temperature from 0 to24 degrees.
  • It is Easy to heat up. Ready meals in a retort bag can be heated without an open fire: in hot water, by placing it on something warm or using a chemical heater.
  • Convenience and reliability of packaging: retort bags are lighter than other packaging for preservation, also they keep their shape well. They are resistant to damage, do not allow moisture and odors to pass through, and perfectly retain the flavor and aroma of the packaged food.

FOOD IN RETORT BAGS IS MOSTLY USED IN:

Food in a retort bag is a complete meal or a supplement to it in a convenient soft package.

They do not take up much space, are lightweight, and do not deteriorate due to improper storage conditions. This is the best option of ready-to-eat products for the military. They fit easily into a backpack or a pocket without causing any inconvenience. Another advantage is space saving option during transportation, because soft packaging is much easier to fold tightly, saving space.

  • tourism

Ready-to-eat meals in retort packaging are a great option for travel. Your backpack will be lighter than with tin cans, and you’ll have more space in your backpack because the packages are easier to fold. You don’t have to heat the food separately in a pot – you can heat it in hot water, which you can use afterwards for other purposes, and the pot will remain clean.
